David Elliott Hale

1941 ~ 2018

David Elliott Hale graduated from this life peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2018, surrounded by family members.

David was born on December 12, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho to LaVell Hale and Helen Maxine Pearson Hale. At 2 years old, he went and lived with is loving Aunt and Uncle, Rachel and Nile Gorringe, and became part of their family. Four sisters and one brother joined the family and greatly blessed David's life. He loved his siblings very much!

David graduated from Burley High School and went on to Brigham Young University. He moved with his wife to California for a job with Del Monte Foods, and worked his way up to become the manager of Pineapple Planning. He worked with Del Monte for 27 years both in San Francisco, California and then Miami, Florida. He became known as the "Pineapple King".

David was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many leadership positions through the years, including 9 years in the bishopric followed by 5 years as bishop in Concord, California where he touched many lives through his compassionate service. He also served in Miami as an early-morning seminary teacher and loved the high schoolers he had the opportunity to associate with.

David loved the holidays, outdoors, gardening, woodworking, horses, family history, home improvement projects, and most of all his family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his father and mother, his loving aunt and uncle, and a son and daughter. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his five siblings and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Draper 6th Ward Chapel, 1272 East Walden Lane, Draper. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, and prior to the funeral on Saturday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
