Susan Ann Laub Kooyman

1944 ~ 2016

Susan Ann Laub Kooyman, 71, died June 6, 2016 in Sandy, Utah after a courageous battle with dementia.

Susan was born July 4, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Blaine Arthur Laub and Betty Mae Nebeker Laub. She married Daniel Raymond Kooyman in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 10, 1963.

She is a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a pianist and organist at church, as Primary chorister, and as ward and stake Young Women's President both in the U.S. and in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She graduated from Olympus High School and attended the University of Utah.

Susan was an accomplished artist in both oil and acrylic painting and as a verbal genealogist. She loved to paint in Decorative Tole style, travel the world with her husband, and spend time with her grandchildren. Her favorite places were Western Europe, particularly the Netherlands, Paris and Marseille. She loved to be tour guide to all her friends and family that visited while she lived there. Her other favorite place was gathering with family at the cabin where all came to celebrate her patriotic birthday. She was very outgoing and friendly and enjoyed helping others. There was always room for one more at the dinner table, or an extra bed in her home.

She is survived by Daniel, her eternal love; eight children, Bradley and Lisa, Mark and Nancy Dubois, David and Laura, Michael and Julie, Matthew and Becky, Daniel II and Emily, Charlie and Anne, Cameron and Jill Cole; and 27 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Daniel Kooyman III.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2016 Telford Chapel, 1834 E. Creek Road, Sandy, Utah. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday Larkin Mortuary 260 E. South Temple, and 10-10:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn 3401 Highland Drive. Tot ziens.
