Sally Jane Anderson Simons

1934 ~ 2023

Sally Jane Anderson Simons, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 10, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born November 19, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the oldest of five children born to Clarence Eugene “Andy” Anderson and Rhoda Ann Shepherd Anderson. She married Danny “Dan” Charles Simons on June 8, 1955, in Evanston, Wyoming, later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1958. She is preceded in death by her husband Dan, son Douglas, grandchildren Alexis, Bryan, and Ian, a son-in-law Howard Carlos Smith, her parents, and siblings Rosie, Ronald, Louise, and Keith.

Sally was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She found great joy in singing gospel hymns, serving others, coaching YM sports, being a Relief Society Visiting Teacher, loved family history, research at the Church Genealogical Library, and visiting cemeteries.

She had a beautiful alto voice and sang in the Bountiful Sweet Adelines 1959-1962.

Sally devoted her life to her children supporting and taking them to 4-H, football, baseball, basketball and fastpitch softball games/practices, motorcycle races, dance reviews, drama practices/performances, marching band, piano recitals and family boating/waterskiing trips. She took care of several grandchildren for many years. Sally was a great seamstress and sewed many dance costumes, theatre costumes, and children’s clothing. She was excellent at math.

Later in life she worked at ZCMI - South Towne Center in the office and other departments advancing to a manager. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in her roses. She loved to sit outside, relax on her swing, and watch the sunset. She was a perfectionist and kept an immaculate house.

Sally and Dan were volunteers at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

She is survived by her children: Dan (Debra), Jolene, Mark (Julie), Debbie, Dorothy, Don (Paula) and Dennis, 24 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren.

We wish to thank Beehive Homes of Draper Assisted Living Facility and Refined Hospice & Home Health, for their staff’s care, attentiveness, and love shown to our mom.

Viewing, celebration of life and graveside services will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. 10:00AM-Viewing, 11:00AM-Celebration of Life, and 12:15PM-Graveside service.

Grandma Simons is the sweetest lady you will ever meet, she is kind to everyone and we will miss her dearly. Visiting her while she was alone made her so happy to see our faces around. We will all miss her.
