Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and of course friend, passed away on August 30, 2023, from age-related illnesses just 11 days before her 95th Birthday.

Those who knew her, loved her to pieces. There will be a forever hole in our hearts without her.

Marie was born in Manti, Utah to Bee & Lamar Jensen on September 9, 1928, and was the eldest of the 3 children which included her brother Fredrick Jensen and sister Louise Jensen Davies.

After Marie graduated from Manti High, she met and married the love of her life "Gordon" Manley Newman on May 29, 1948. This great couple had 5 sons and 1 daughter.

Seems there were always kids at her home, first 3 boys: "Manley Lamar 1949" & Virginia,
"Charles Gordon 1950" & Joyce, "Clark Frederick 1953" & Gail. Then her special daughter "Sheila Marie 1962" and 2 more boys: "Garn Lund 1965" & Judy, and
"James Roy 1966" & Karol.

She had a full life. In her earlier years they went camping, fishing, and hunting with their kids, and later with their kids & grandkids together, usually back to home base in Southern Utah.

She usually had a full house (sometimes standing room only) of family and friends each
Christmas & Thanksgiving. Mom always made sure there was enough food and presents for everyone. You were always welcome anytime.

The kids loved to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house. There were always animals around, a barn with a haystack and horses, a cow or two, chickens and ducks and a load of kittens for the grandkids to play with.

When She lived in South Jordan, she loved sitting on her back porch with her dog and feeding all the stray cats while watching the sunset and visiting with family and friends. In her spare time, she crocheted table mats and coasters and beautiful blankets for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband "Gordon", her brother "Frederick" and her son
"Garn."

She is survived by her beloved five children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and those who loved her.

She was fortunate enough to be able to live in her home by herself until she turned 93 and then moved to a retirement center where everyone adored her. Many thanks to Copper Creek Assisted Living Center for the love and support you provided for our mom.

We love you and salute you Mom.

Please join us at her Graveside Service held at 11:00 am on Wednesday September 6, 2023 at the Gunnison Cemetery in Gunnison, Utah.

Guestbook/Condolences

Marie was just fabulous. She was always so pleasant to visit with even when she didn't feel great, and I always felt uplifted after seeing her. I will miss her cute sense of humor and her matter-of-fact way of just taking the challenges of life and doing her best. She was a pioneer in her own way.

Dear Sheila, Here's sending my deepest condolences to you and your family. Just feel bad, I never got to meet this wonderful, great LADY. She was so kind, so caring, by what the obit says and from what you (Sheila) have told me. Sheila, you are just like your Mother! So caring and so kind. 💕😥

You will greatly be missed mom. I used to love the way you always had to count how many people were there at a family function. And you had me do it a few days before you died. at Copper Creek. You're a great lady. We love and miss you.

I'm so sorry. She was a fighter. I still remember that she gave me a copy of "Treasure Island" for my birthday when I was boy. It became one of my most treasured books.
