In Loving Memory of Scott Leroy Nichols

Scott Leroy Nichols May 10, 1956 – August 10, 2026, passed away at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 70 from natural causes.

If you knew Scott, you knew his laugh! Long before you saw him, you could often hear him laughing, and everyone around him laughing too. Standing over six feet tall, Scott had a larger-than-life presence, but it was his kindness, warmth, and welcoming spirit that truly filled every room.

Born in Murray, Utah, Scott was the oldest of three children born to Gary Nichols and Saundra Mitchell Tripp. He spent much of his youth chasing adventure, making memories, and collecting stories. He loved hunting with his stepfather, Keith Tripp, and often reminisced about watching the dogs work the fields, flushing pheasants from their hiding places. He loved fast cars, the outdoors, good food, and great company.

Scott was a skilled autobody craftsman who worked alongside his father and uncle before establishing his own business. He took pride in his work and became known for both his talent and willingness to teach others. He believed in helping people build better lives and generously shared his knowledge and skills with anyone willing to learn.

Scott loved children, animals, family and church gatherings. Throughout his life, he was rarely without a beloved pet companion, whether a dog or an exotic bird. His faithful dog, Cheech, was his constant companion and the star of many of his stories.

Faith was an important part of his life. He loved sharing his testimony and his beliefs with anyone willing to listen. His life journey was not without challenges. Scott openly acknowledged the mistakes he made and the difficult consequences that followed. Rather than hiding from his struggles, he used them as opportunities to help others. He spoke honestly about addiction and the hardships it brought into his life. He faced adversity with honesty and humility and openly shared his life’s lessons, especially with young people, hoping they would learn from his journey. His willingness to be vulnerable and authentic touched many lives.

Scott loved deeply and remained devoted to his family throughout his life. He faithfully called home every Sunday and never forgot a holiday card or special occasion. We find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with loved ones who passed before him, especially his beloved mother, whose love and faith in him never wavered. Above all, Scott loved his daughter, Candice, who was the greatest joy of his life and someone he was endlessly proud of.

Those who knew Scott will remember that he was wonderfully human. He wasn’t perfect, and he never pretended to be. He met life with honesty, humor, faith and a heart big enough to make room for everyone. He volunteered freely, stepped in when help was needed, and often put others before himself. His life’s story concluded as a masterclass in grace and purpose.

Scott is survived by his daughter, Candice Parmer; his siblings, Tracy Tripp (Sarah), Chet R. Nichols (Patty), and Lori T. Fox; along with grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
