Sela Fuaiapi Fakataha Tongolei Nasilai

Our beloved Sela Fuaiapi Fakataha Tongolei Nasilai, age 72, passed away peacefully in her home May 9, 2025 in West Valley City, Utah.

Sela was born February 27, 1953 Tongatapu, Tonga Islands to Tevita and Senitila Tuionetoa Tongolei. She married Senituli Hoatatau Nasilai, who preceded her in death in December 2022. She is blessed to be the mother of Joey Nasilai (Petiola) and Kalesita Ma’u (Sione).

Sela enjoyed being grandmother to her 10 grandchildren: Baby Mele’Ungatea, Soka Viliseni, Tavai Ragena Marley, Senituli Hoatatau Jr, Lisiate Anitoni Jr, Sela Fua’i’iapi Tongolei, Kiana Grace, Kafo’atu Evangeline Noel, Kalisi Ela’iana Nova, and Peniono Laione Music Man Malohifo’ou. She loved her siblings and mourned those who have since passed: Poasi Akau (Litea), Kumi’ea (Eneasi Taufa), Hasimani (Elenoa), and John Taylor. She is survived by her two sisters Feao (Hopoate Saluni), and Mele (Semisi Malungahu).

Sela is a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed her many callings and continued to encourage others to go to church and follow the Savior. Sela’s many talents include sewing, dancing, thrifting, laughing, teaching, tending to her plants, being neighborly, and ministering to those in need. If there is anything that brought her more joy in this life, other than the Lord, it was spending time with her family. She loved her family so much she made sure to attend as many family functions and events as she was able. She was loved by many nieces and nephews who knew her as ‘Aunty Taha’, they frequented her home throughout their lives both young and old.

She will be greatly missed by all who called her sister, mother, grandmother, aunty and friend. Until we meet again we will always remember you Sela.
