John John VanKomen

1969 ~ 2018

John John VanKomen passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018. He leaves behind what he treasured the very most, his three daughters Mikelle, Kaitlin, and Nicole. They were blessed with one of the most genuine, moral and hardworking fathers they could imagine. He was always there to share every highlight and loved being involved in all aspects of their lives.

Born February 7, 1969 in Sandy, Utah. John grew up in Sandy and went to Hillcrest High School and later graduated from Westminster College in 1992, with a bachelor's degree in Marketing. Growing up John had a passion for motocross and competitively raced until the age of 15. Unfortunately, he had to stop due to a major injury. He loved fixing up cars and working on things. One of his most cherished memories was in high school working with his dad to build a custom 1979 Chevrolet Silverado monster truck. John began working at a young age striving to become self-dependent. He began working with his father John, also known as Gramps, operating V and W Volkswagen. Which they proudly ran for over 50 years and is still running today. During this time, he married Michelle Utter VanKomen and they had their three daughters. His girls made his life complete. One of his milestones in life was buying a cabin on Scofield Reservoir. This was one of his favorite places to go with his family and friends, enjoying every second spent on the lake.

His favorite times in life were spent with his three daughters. John made a point to have all of his hobbies include his friends and family. Countless days spent on the lake, in the mountains, camping, skiing, family vacations, and teaching his daughters invaluable life lessons. John will be deeply missed by a large number of close extended family, friends, and basically anyone who met him. He was loved by all!

To my son, I have loved you since the day they placed you in my arms. I will love you and think about you every day until I die. You have been the most caring and wonderful son a mother could ask for. Thank you for the beautiful three granddaughters. We are going to miss you more than you could even imagine. Love you, Mom

Dad your endless love and support has brought us to where each of us are today. Thanks for teaching us to work hard and play harder and living life to the fullest. Making us go towards anything we want in life and not be afraid of what is to come next. We have learned so much from the amazing father you were to us three girls. You were an amazing role model.

Love always, the #VKSISTERS
