Sharon Larae Gehring “Ma”, 85, of Salt Lake City passed peacefully, June 19, 2024, surrounded by love. Born December 13, 1938, to Evona Terrell & Henry Everts. Ma always had a zest for life that kept her going ‘til the very end (sometimes aided by her “Silver Bullet”). From graduating high school to meeting and marrying the love of her life, Bob “Walrus” Gehring, Sharon was always ready for the next adventure. Four-plus children didn’t slow her down; she kept up with us all. Through school, fishing, hunting, road trips and summer shenanigans, she kept us in line.
Always looking ahead, Ma decided to go back to work, starting a retail job in 1974 that continued for 50 years, only just semi-retiring to three days a week. Ma had a knack for making everyone feel like family and embraced an extended family of friends and co-workers… and the adventures continued. Company parties, bowling, trips to Wendover and the “roundy-round” races, she loved it all!
“Grammy” emerged as the grandkids started arriving and her joy overflowed- while she often joked about always being a “grandpa, since the first six grandkids were boys, she eventually became a “grandma” and life was great!
Then as life often does, it threw Ma a curveball as first her grandson Shane and then her husband of 56 years passed and some of the light went out of her eyes. But new adventures awaited as Shawn and Debbie moved in refurbishing the house, Sandy took over the road trips to Wendover and new friends now family began the “Lower Bryan” block parties.
Ma has now gone on to her next adventure to join “Walrus”, Shane and Grandma Bonnie. She is survived by her children, Jodie(Jaye) Gardner, Jeneanne(Taylor) Smith, Shawn(Debbie) Gehring and Sandy Azavedo, grandkids, Nicholas, Morgan, Jason, Jesse, Ayla, Nova, Maddison and Jensen, great grandkids, Raiden, Lenyx, Hazel, Baylee, Kirsten, Quenton, Connor and Belletrix and her brothers Steve and Mark Everts.

My deepest condolence for the family. I worked with Sharon at Smiths Marketplace for a while. She is one of the person I will never forget how kind and caring she was to me. She was always be able to see goodness in people. Love her dearly and will miss her.
Sharon was a joy to work with. I was lucky enough to see her every morning at 5am and she'd always say "Well I better go see what trouble I can create" we loved and will miss her greatly. Go see what trouble you can create. We'll all see you again soon enough.
I am so sorry for your loss. Working with Sharon was a treat and knowing such a wonderful person is a blessing. God bless you and keep you.
Sadness seems to enhance the love and closeness of those who pass before you. Question remains, why you? Living at the bottom of Bryan, cusp of Kensington allowed for the best of all. Terribly miss Sharon and Bob. Friends for ever. 30+years. Never forgotten.
