  • Sharon Mae (Mellis) Wadman was Born on July 29th, 1945, daughter of the late Lueva Mae (Lemmon) Mellis and Robert James Mellis.

Sharon grew up in beautiful San Diego. In high school, she swept in and stole Richard Harold Wadman’s heart from his girlfriend. Sharon’s parents made her wait to be baptized because of their own religion, but when she was 18, Richard baptized her a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. When Richard came home for Christmas in 1964 from BYU, they became engaged.

Richard and Sharon were married on July 22, 1965. Together, they have five sons: Robert James, David Alan, Brian Taylor, Matthew John and Michael Todd. Sharon was a very loving spouse and a wonderful mother to her 5 boys. Their home was filled with a lot of love and laughter. She is often referred to as the glue to her family. Sharon is the beloved “Nana” to her and “Tata’s” 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Sharon and Richard lived in Del Mar, CA for 34 years. Sharon worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for the Del Mar Union School District for 17 years. She helped children, K through 2nd, who were having trouble keeping up or falling behind in their class. All the teachers adored her and trusted her to fill in for them when they were ill.

Sharon served in many capacities within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some of her roles included Relief Society President and Primary President. She loved and cared for all of those she encountered and helped to bring back many inactive members, resulting in many fond memories from her service to them.

After retirement, Richard and Sharon moved to Sacramento, CA to be closer to family. They moved to Utah this past April (2021). Sharon suffered with many health issues in her later years, including Dementia. She is now at peace, having passed away on Saturday, August 14th, at 5:17pm. She is surely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 11:00 am at Larkin Mortuary in Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton. Viewings will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Thursday, 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to services. Both viewings will be a Larkin Mortuary in Riverton. We will miss Sharon - she was the best sister-in-law. We always looked forward to seeing her - we knew there would be lots of laughs and fun times. We admired her not only for her personality but also for the love she showed to her family and friends. We played “Words With Friends” everyday and I will surely miss her. Our love to Richard and her boys and their families.❤️

    Dear Richard and Family,

I was so very saddened to learn of Sharon's passing last week and to know of her struggles in the concluding years of her mortal life I will always remember her fun personality, warm smile, gentle ways, and faithfulness to her family and to God. She made an imprint on my heart as I'm certain she did on others wherever she went.

I send my sincere condolences and love to you all. Monetta Smoot
