Sharon Winters Scott passed away at home on Sunday, August 1, 2021. On March 1, 1954, she was born in Huntington Park, California, to Douglas and Leora Winters. The smell of the ocean and the sound of waves always felt like home to her.

Married to Roy Scott on November 21, 1986, for 35 years, the couple shared seven children and 19 grandchildren.

Sharon lived an incredibly full life. She loved her children and grandchildren and loved serving others, including friends, neighbors, and family. Sharon was very passionate about family history and enjoyed helping others learn and explore, often stopping to visit cemeteries to track down long-lost relatives. Sharon was also an incredible quilter. She made each child, grandchild, and many loved ones precious handmade quilts they will continue to cherish.

Sharon was dedicated to her religion and practiced throughout her life. Her faith is what guided her; it gave her a sense of belonging and purpose.

Sharon and Roy lived in Sandy, Utah, for 29 years, where they loved, supported, served their friends, neighbors, and ward family.

Sharon attended BYU and was the founder and CEO of Education Systems, a successful business she ran for nearly 30 years with the help of a dedicated and talented team.

Sharon spent many years teaching by example and showed others how to put in the work and stay committed to a task. Sharon often said, “Don’t whine, don’t think of all the reasons you can’t...just do it!”

Sharon is survived by her husband Roy; sister Susan and brother-in-law Larry; children Lori, Gerald, Scott, Lindsay, Doug, Catherine, Heather, Bryan, Adrian, Alex, Spencer; grandchildren Anthony, Danielle, Brady, Gabrielle, Tatem, Cannon, Holden, Jordan, Parker, Dayna, Landri, Bryn, Sloane, Dwyer, Nash, Reagan, Preston and Addison. She was preceded in death by her youngest grandchild, Owen.

A viewing will be held Thursday evening, August 5, from 6-8 pm at the Prescott Chapel located at 10975 Prescott Dr, Sandy, UT 84092.

We love Sharon and are so very grateful to have known her. She was instrumental in helping us find some long lost relatives and it's been a blessing to be able to communicate with them now. It's going to be very hard to think about her and not see her in person but we will meet again. The memories will be cherished!

Hearing this news this morning felt like a gut punch. Sharon has been a dear friend for many years until I had to move. I've missed her so much and Roy as well. I am relieved for her that she no longer suffers and she is free of pain. She was always cheerful and strong no matter what she was going through. She was an inspiration and I loved her so much. My heart breaks for Roy and her family but you will be reunited and that will be a blessing of joy and comfort. ❤🌹❤🌹❤ So long my friend 😘🥰😇

To Roy and the Scott family, we are truly sorry for your loss. When our family moved into the ward back in 2012, Sharon and Roy were some of the first members to welcome us with open arms. Even though Sharon was going through some difficult and painful health-related issues, she always greeted us with kindness and love. Her love and dedication to Family History was an inspiration to us. She will always be remembered as a loving, compassionate friend to our family. Please know our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Love the Glade family.
