On Wednesday, January 05, 2022, Sheldon Singleton Smith, our beloved father and family patriarch, passed away following a hard-fought battle with dementia. He was 89 years old.

Sheldon was born July 21, 1932 to Brigham M. Smith and Eva Elizabeth Singleton in Victor, Utah.

Sheldon lived a long, fruitful life – outliving all of his siblings. He was a gifted mechanic who spent his career working for both Continental Trailways and the Greyhound Bus Company. Sheldon enjoyed tinkering with machines to make them work. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as transportation driver, ferrying supplies to the front lines and returning the wounded to hospitals. He thoroughly loved helping to raise two of his great-grandsons, Dominic Moore and Devlin Vasey.

Sheldon is preceded in death by his wife Jan Roberts, his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, his daughters Anita Ohlwiler and Sudie Ferris, and granddaughter Bonnie Moore.

Those of us left behind to mourn include daughters Elaina Bosen, Magna, UT, Doreen DaSilva, West Jordan, UT, Belinda Taylor, West Jordan, UT, and Kaylyn Crum, Wellsville, UT plus sons Jon Roberts of Las Cruces, NM and Chris Roberts of McHenry, IL. Grandchildren who mourn include Stephanie, Tarrence, Nathaniel, Emily, Alison, Cameron, Matthew, Chris, Andrew, Brittney, Zachary, William, Ashley, Conner, Michael Jon, Cassie, Jessie, Kevin, and Keith. Others include great-grandchildren who will miss him including Amelia, Jessica, Thomas, Brady, Ian, Collin, Reed, Owen, Waren, Deseret, Cora, Susan, Brooklyn, Declan, Oliver, Mia, and Max, plus many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, SLC, UT, 84111 (801-363-5781). Viewing will be from 9:00am until 10:15am, followed by a short program from 10:15am-10:45am. Military honors and internment will be at Grantsville City Cemetery at 11:30am, 370 W.
