Glenda N. Van Sciver

1938 ~ 2018

Glenda was born in her home in Cleveland, Idaho, to LaVina and Delbert Nielson on January 22, 1938, and passed on March 19, 2018. She was raised in Niter, Idaho, along with her older sister Arlene (Wilker). Glenda and Arlene both worked in their parents stores while attending Grace High School. Mom was head cheerleader and played in the pep band.

Glenda, met and married Robert Lee Van Sciver, after meeting him at Utah State College. Together they had three children: Brett Robert, Greg Michael and Meggen Lee Van Sciver. Glenda and Bob worked very hard to raise their young family, complete college and begin their careers. Glenda taught grade school for many years and later was a substitute teacher. Glenda was always the volunteer mom and played the piano for the school productions. Later in life she had a second career as a real estate agent.

Glenda or "Glitter" as she was known by her friends had a quick wit, a love of travel, was a champion on the tennis court and a master with a hand of bridge. Glenda's happiest role was that of grandmother or "redma" as nicknamed by her oldest grandson, Chase Robert Vlaanderen. She loved to dress up her only granddaughter and then passed on her love of style and shopping to Paige Eva Vlaanderen. Redma was at every sporting event of her youngest grandson, Stockton Vlaanderen. The two of them had become very close the past few months and spoke several times a day. Glenda became a great-grandmother on February 5, 2018, and was always very excited to spend time with her great-grandson, Aiden David Emery.

Mom had a full life, she was able to travel the world, volunteered her time to causes she believed in and always supported her children and grandchildren. Mom never gave up on us and despite her physical pain and trials she never gave up her beautiful smile and positive attitude. Mom loved watching the Utah Jazz with her beloved dog, Max.

Mom suffered much loss in her lifetime. Her parents, my dad, and sadly both of my brother's Brett and Gregg. She also lost her brother in law, Elwood Wilker and a sister Deloris Nielson.

A celebration of life to honor this amazing woman, will be held on May 26, 2018, from 4 ‚ 7 p.m. at 1811 Southmoor Drive, Holladay, Utah. Dress is casual, come and celebrate this incredible woman, meet her new great-grandson and share your favorite Glitter story with her grandchildren.
