Steven Dale Moffett, beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father and grandfather, returned home to his loving Father in Heaven on May 4th, 2025. He was born to, and survived by, Gary and Carolynn Moffett in Salt Lake City, Utah on April 22, 1957. Steve's family was the center of his world. He is survived by his three siblings: Lori Brooks (Stephen), Sheri Spencer (Robert), and Michael Moffett (Dena). From childhood adventures filled with fishing, hunting, camping and music, his love for his family grew into an unbreakable bond.
In 1978, Steve married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Lori Palmer. Together, they built a beautiful life until her passing in 2005. He is survived by their four children, who were the pride and joy of his life: Matthew Moffett (Emily), Holly Monsen (Brett), Courtney Shorr (Cory), and Kelly Ertmann (Payton), as well as his twelve cherished grandchildren. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to his family, cherishing every moment spent with them.
In 2014, Steve found love again and married Judie Ashworth. He was welcomed into their family with open arms by her children Monica Weaver (Bruce), Kurt Ashworth (Jill), Marla Call (Adam), thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
At an early age, Steve dedicated his life to a career in the auto industry and retired from the Jordan School District after 25 years as a diesel mechanic.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Steve served in the Canada Alberta Mission. Throughout the years, Steve held many leadership roles and was loved by both adults and youth alike. He was a true friend to all, leaving a lasting impact on the lives he touched. To know Steve was to be loved by him—and he was deeply loved in return.

Much love, thoughts and prayers to the Moffett family. Whether Steve was coaching me in basketball or on a ward campouts he always made it so much fun. So many great memories!! Christlike in every way!
I am shocked and saddened at the news of Stephen 's passing. I served with him in the Canada Calgary Mission from June 23rd 1977 till November 15 1977 in Grande Prairie Alberta. We were blessed with over 17 baptisms during our time together and we had built a fantastic companionship and a great love for one another. Fortunately I kept a journal of our time spent and our experiences which I have dropped tears over numerous times rereading and reminiscing those special times. I will never forget my Friend (Elder Moff) . We both shared a testimony of the truthfulness of the Church and it's restoration as we shared it with the people.of Grande Prairie Alberta. I know we will see each other again as we leave this life and share our experiences with each other on the other side of the veil. May God be with his Family and loved ones at this time of loss. So sorry for your time of grief, but know that he was and is not only a Great Friend but a true disciple of of our older brother Jesus Christ.

Sending your sweet family our love and condolences at this time as you have lost your sweet dad.
We were neighbors of Steve & Lori Moffett when he and his family lived in the Park ward in Sandy. We loved the Moffetts. What a great family! We shared a portion of our backyard fence for years. Steve was one of the best guys ever!!! ♥️ I would be outside doing yard work and have my music on and I’d be singing along and then suddenly Steve would join in singing from over in his yard and we’d finish the songs together. He was awesome! Our trampoline took flight one time and flipped over the fence in a windstorm into his yard… he called me to tell me he thought I lost something… and I looked out back and we both started laughing. We got it tipped back up and rolled back over into our yard again but not before he got up and jumped around on it for a bit. My girls and I laughed so hard. They were an amazing family. ♥️ we loved Steve and were sad when their family moved away and out of the ward. He is an amazing father, grandfather and friend. Sending love to all of his family as they mourn his passing. We along with so many others have amazing memories and were touched by his incredible spirit. He will surely be missed. Love from his old neighbor in Sandy, Utah. Elizabeth Fermanian-Larson and my girls Madison & Mackenzie.

We pray you will all help each other get through this sorrowful time. You were born of goodly parents and have the Gospel of Our Savior to see you through. If Glo and I can ever be of a help to you; please let us know. God bless and keep you .
