Steve Wood passed at his Draper home December 26, 2023 after a valiant struggle against overwhelming health issues. He will be remembered as a loving and proud father to his children, Cassa, Alyssa, Weston, and Heather, and grandfather to Shayda, Justice, Whit, Makinley, Miley, Kadence, Dreyden, Bristyn, Triston, and Jersie.
He was born June 16, 1957 in Delta, Utah to Roy and Arjanna Dekker Wood. Steve was raised and schooled in the Delta area, graduating from Delta High before obtaining an associates degree in automotive service and repair from UVSC.
He engaged in high school sports, and loved hunting, barefoot and trick skiing at the Rez, taxidermy, and swimming in the big blue (ocean) as favorite pastimes. He especially enjoyed the outings that involved close and extended family.
A man of varied interests, he worked as an auto body mechanic, was employed at the Brush Wellman mill near delta, and made arrows with a large aluminum sporting manufacturer. His career, however, was managing environmental laboratories at locations across the country for the purposes of controlling and reducing hazardous waste.
Along with his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister Beverly and brother Roy, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
Steve chose cremation so that his final resting place would include many of his favorite locations.
His preference was that no funeral service be held, but that a small family gathering for sharing of memories and reacquainting his loved ones with each other take place at a later time.
The family appreciates the thoughts and acts of kindness and comfort at this time. We are especially grateful for the loving care provided by Heather and Cassa through his trials.
