Lynn A. Strong

1931 ~ 2016

Lynn A. Strong, our beloved husband, father, son, brother, grandpa, uncle and friend passed away at home surrounded by his family at age 84. Lynn was born in Salt Lake City to loving parents, Elmer C. and Thelma Ackerman Strong. Lynn married his lifelong companion Marilyn Egbert for time and all Eternity on August 16, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they had four daughters: Sherrie, Bonnie, Julie and Tammie. Lynn owned his own roofing business and worked hard all of his life. He loved to take his family camping but his favorite thing was the beautiful family cabin in the Uintah Mountains. Many family memories were made through those years.

Lynn was an active, faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many leadership callings throughout his life. As Bishop of Garden Heights South ward, his influence was immeasurable. Lives were changed through his many years of service and love. His devotion to the Lord has been unwavering and his example will be a constant source of strength. He and Marilyn also served a service mission in the Salt Lake City Mission Office, 2000-2001 and another one at the Temple Square Visitor's Center.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; daughters, Sherrie (Rob) Alston, Bonnie (Mark) Paulsen, Julie (Denny) Couton and Tammie Beach; 16 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Betty Robinson, Jack (Barbara) Strong, Doris Jack, Bob (Carol) Strong; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by granddaughter Amanda, his parents; brothers, Ted, Dick and Don Strong; and sisters, Carol Strong and Ardelle Brooks.

A special thank you to Lynn's team from Angel's Crossing: Laura, Jamie, Loyda and Rudy for their compassionate care.
