Horace Joel Salazar

1980 ~ 2017

Horace Joel Salazar III, was born April 3, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Horace Joel Jr. and Maurine Salazar. He passed away May 12, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah of continuing health issues following an accident several years ago.

Joel had a passion for cooking, entertaining and fine foods. It was that passion that led to his move to New York. While he had lived in Utah and Wyoming, New York was his true home and where his heart remained. He made life-long friends there and everywhere he went.

He was a wonderful, loving and fun son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend. He had such a close relationship with his two grandfathers, Horace Joel Salazar, Sr. and Donald Clark (dec). He was the best root beer float maker and blanket fort builder. We will all miss his smile.

He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Joel Salazar, Jr.; grandfather, Donald Clark; grandmothers Mary Anne Reeves and Betty Ellett; as well as his aunt, Carmen Parry.

He is survived by his mother, Maurine Salazar; step-mother, Tanja Salazar; sisters, Chaunte (David) Cardwell and their children and Kelly (Kim) Salazar and their daughter; grandparents, Horace Joel Salazar, Sr. (Sue) and Annette Clark; aunts, Mary, Katy, Lisa and their families; uncles, John, Michael, Patrick, Scott and their families, as well as Joel's dog, Poncho.

At Joel's request, there will be no services. His family will remember him together. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to an animal shelter or sanctuary of your choice.
