Cassandra Ann Fairbourn

1977 ~ 2016

Our courageous warrior finished her battle with colon cancer on Monday, August 15, 2016. Cassandra Ann Fairbourn was born January 4, 1977 at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Daniel and Lorna Watson. As an Army brat, Cassie lived in many locations including Germany and Hawaii. Cassie spent her childhood in Tucson, Arizona and later in Kanab, Utah. Cassie developed many close relationships and cherished those friendships. As a youth, Cassie enjoyed soccer, softball and volleyball which helped to develop her fighting spirit. Cassie passed her love of competition on to her daughters, cheering and coaching them as they played soccer and basketball.

Cassie received her Bachelor's and MBA degree with a career as an accountant ‚ most recently employed with Salt Lake City's Department of Airports. Cassie was a "planner". Whether it was a party or a family vacation, she enjoyed getting everything together and providing a great experience ‚ often joking about her "lists". This planning passion continued into her last days as Cassie led friends and family through her battle with colon cancer providing regular insight and updates, knowing that it may help others fighting similar battles.

Cassie will be greatly missed, but we are comforted knowing that she is now liberated from her recent limitations. There is a peace knowing that she has been received in heaven with a loving embrace from her younger brother John Watson.

Cassie is survived by her husband Chris Fairbourn, daughters Courtney Danielle and Kylee Rose, parents Daniel and Lorna Watson, brother Jason Watson, grandmother Marlene Turner, in-laws Darwin Clayton and Rosemary Fairbourn and numerous cousins and in-laws. Cassie is preceded in death by her brother John Daniel Watson, grandfather John Turner and niece Camryn Morgan.

A celebration of Cassie's life will take place on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 11:00 am at the LDS chapel located at 607 E. Rocky Mouth Lane (14300 S.) in Draper, Utah. Viewings will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services, both at the church. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in the name of Cassie Fairbourn Memorial at any Zion's Bank.
