Dora Isabelle Hansen Ashton

1917 ~ 2013

Dora Isabelle Hansen Ashton lived an extraordinary life. Born to Oscar and Ann Hansen in Burley, Idaho on December 31, 1917, Dora experienced a life that saw a magnitude of change not truly ever experienced except by those of Dora's generation who yet remain in mortality. From homesteading in the Salmon River Valley to the technical world we now live in Dora was part of it all. To her dying day she remained involved and committed to life; having been taught e-mail by one of her very tech savvy Grandchildren. Dora journeyed forth from this life to her next challenge on July 25, 2013.

Dora married the love of her life, Edwin James Ashton on June 4, 1937, and at the end of her mortal days she and her Eternal Soul Mate were the proud parents of 111 descendants, a number too large to all name. She is survived by her four sons and four daughters-in-law; Clive-Rosella with 36 descendants; David-Karen with 32 descendants; Richard-Tess with 32 descendants and Dr. Jonathan-Chris with 3 descendants; numbering in all 8 children; 37 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Dora was a life member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She participated in all the auxiliary organizations of the Church as Relief Society President, Primary President and many other callings. Until recently, she was teaching in the Relief Society. Her entire life was one of obedience to the principals of her faith; her life was dedicated to teaching her sons; her final observations to her boys came from her well worn scriptures. She taught us to be courageous, obedient, selfless and to endure to the end; all virtues she did not just teach, but herself lived and exemplified.

A private family service commemorating and celebrating the life of Dora was held July 29 with Graveside services held directly thereafter. In lieu of flowers Dora had instructed the family to suggest contributions to the general fund of her Church or to another appropriate charity. Dora would want her family and friends to know how much she loved them all and would lastly say:

"Until We Meet Again"
