Manuel Gallegos a son of Felicito and Juanita Gallegos was born May 14, 1931 in Cuba New Mexico. Passed away peacefully October 1, 2014 surrounded by loved ones.
He fought courageously in the Korean War. Married Margie Jiron June 22, 1954 (divorced after 25 years). They had four boys, W. Daniel (Deanna), Phillip (deceased), Rick and Steven (Trudy).
He married his baby girl Connie April 10, 1986. She also had four children, Jody (Tracy), Joey, Lenny (Misty) and Julie (Julian). She was his best friend and fellow sports fanatic. For the last ten years due to his physical limitations, she was also his unwavering round the clock caregiver.
Together they had 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He retired from Kennecott Copper after 35 dedicated years of service.
Preceded in death by a son Phillip, brothers and sisters Bernilda, Pete, Max, Stella, Moises and Margaret. Remaining siblings, Rose Vargas, Bernice Montoya (Ben).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Anne M. Daily and Tracy Benson, his hospice nurse, for their loving care and support in his final days.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2014, at Larkin Mortuary 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Friends and family may visit Sunday, October 5, 2014, between 6 and 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and Monday one hour prior to services at Larkin Mortuary. Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Cemetery 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
