Obituary

Thomas Michael Collier, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026, at the age of 78.

Tom was born on February 5, 1948, in Highland, Illinois. He lived a life defined by faith, integrity, hard work, and devotion to his wife and seven children.

Tom grew up in Greenville, Illinois, with his loving parents, Victor and Mary Geyman Collier, and his four brothers, Victor, Robert, Jim, and John. He deeply loved and admired each of them and treasured the lifelong bond they shared. He held a special place in his heart for his youngest brother, John, who passed away at the age of nine. The loss of John remained close to his heart throughout his life.

In his early twenties, Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era War and was stationed in Washington State. There he met the love of his life, Vera Jan Price. Jan introduced him to missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and through their teachings he gained a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Tom and Jan were married on December 18, 1971, and shortly thereafter they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they began a partnership founded on faith, love, and devotion that would span more than 54 years.

Together, Tom and Jan built a loving home and a legacy of faith that continues through their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Tom worked as an electrical engineer for more than 30 years. He was known for his intelligence, creativity, and ability to solve problems. His passion for engineering inspired several of his children and grandchildren to follow in his footsteps.

He also had a lifelong love of music. A talented drummer, Tom spent countless evenings behind his drum set playing along to his favorite oldies. The sounds of classic rock and roll often filled the house and brought him and his family great joy.

When he wasn’t working, Tom could often be found in his garage repairing cars, working on projects, or organizing tools. His sons will fondly remember the many weekends spent hauling everything out of the garage under Dad’s direction, only to put it all back by day’s end. Those hours together became cherished family memories.

Above all, Tom loved the gospel of Jesus Christ, his beloved wife, and his family. He taught by example, demonstrating faith, honesty, service, and perseverance. His quiet strength and unwavering testimony left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of more than 54 years, Vera Jan Price Collier; his children, John (Heidi) Collier, Susan (Ryan) Astin, Stephanie (Cade) Jensen, Brian (Valerie) Collier, Gavin (Jill) Collier, and Melissa (Justin) Boyce; 39 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Jenna (Daniel) Jacobson; his little brother, John; and his parents, Victor Collier and Mary Geyman Collier.

Though his family mourns his passing, they find comfort in the knowledge that families can be together forever through Jesus Christ. Tom’s legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to bless generations to come.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.

Tom believed with all his heart in the promise of eternal families, and his loved ones find peace in knowing that this is not goodbye, but until we meet again.

Little Vic, Bob, Tom and Jim were all older than my brother Joe and I but they always had some adventurous or entertaining activity for us when we visited. John was younger, but we sure enjoyed visiting Uncle Vic, Aunt Mary and the boys!!!
