Ernest \"Ernie\" Van Corler

1929 ~ 2018

Ernie passed away peacefully on September 27, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born to John and Allie Priem Van Corler in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 14, 1929. He grew up in South Salt Lake and graduated from Granite High. In 1955 he met Nadine Searle. They were sealed for time and eternity on October 8, 1956 in the Salt Lake City Temple. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ernie enjoyed his mission to Holland. After retiring, Ernie and Nadine served as temple workers for 12 years. They served at both the Winter Quarters and Chicago temples, including a one-year mission to the Chicago temple.

Ernie was proud of being Dutch. He loved the comment, "If you ain't Dutch, you ain't much!" He connected with his Dutch relatives on his mission.

Ernie and Nadine made their home in Salt Lake, Independence, Missouri, Ankeny, Iowa, and for the last six years in South Jordan, Utah. They were blessed with four children. He loved spending time with his kids and grand-kids. He loved watching them in sporting events, performances and celebrating with the grand-kids at Chuck E. Cheese.

His eternal companion and love of his life, Nadine, preceded Ernie in death. He is survived by his children, Chandra Walker, Guy (Laurie) Van Corler, Jackie (Trevor) Adams, and Robert (Angie) Van Corler; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward; sisters, Hedy and Ethel; grandson, David.
