Toni Ann Hansen (née Madsen), age 52, passed away on January 18, 2026, in Park City, Utah. She was born on February 8, 1973, to Tone and Hanna Madsen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Garrett Hansen on July 31, 1993, in Holladay, Utah. Toni lived a life rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a deep love for the natural world.
A proud graduate of Jordan High School in 1991, Toni pursued her passion for science and education at Westminster College, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry in 1995—an academic foundation that would shape her lifelong dedication to teaching and environmental stewardship.
Toni’s professional journey was marked by excellence and inspiration. As a beloved educator at the Weilenmann School of Discovery, she touched countless lives with her enthusiasm for learning and her unwavering support for her students. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to education, she was honored as Teacher of the Year in 2018—a testament to the profound impact she had on those fortunate enough to learn from her.
Beyond the classroom, Toni found joy and purpose in nature. She served as Lead Horticulturalist at Red Butte Garden, where her expertise and care helped cultivate not only thriving landscapes but also a deeper public appreciation for plant life. Her work reflected both scientific knowledge and an artist’s eye for beauty.
Toni’s love of gardening extended into every corner of her life. Whether tending to flowers or nurturing vegetables, she found peace and fulfillment among growing things. Her affection for animals—especially her pets—and her passion for the outdoors were ever-present sources of happiness. She was known for her willingness to help others and her deep commitment to children and education.
Toni is lovingly remembered by her father, Tone Madsen; her brother, Jeremy Madsen; her husband, Garrett Hansen; their children, Anastasia, Josephine, Genevieve, Gabriella, and Truman; and their grandchild, Artemis. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hanna Madsen.
A funeral viewing will be held on January 30, 2026, at Larkin Mortuary in Sandy, Utah. A celebration of life will follow on January 31, 2026, at Le Jardin in Sandy, Utah.
Toni’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched—as a teacher, horticulturalist, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
Guestbook/Condolences
My heart goes out to all of the family!
You Toni will be missed a shining light that still burns bright in the afterlife always!
Bless your soul Tony, you left us so fast that I can’t imagine. God always picks the most beautiful flowers, and it’s not fair.
We are so sad to hear of her passing. The boys and I remember her from WSD. She is the nicest person and always had a smile for the three of us. Our condolences to her family; I know she loved so much.
A true angel in this world. Someone who deeply touched the lives of me and everyone she met. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Toni. My heart truly goes out to everyone affected. Her love shines on.
Dear Hansen family,
My deepest condolences to all of you. Your mom and I shared our love for Track & Field through the HS stats of the triplets and our love for the outdoors through our ranch animals when we celebrated your 15th birthdays. She told me all the news about all of you, and Artemis, all the time when we were together at WSD. I am thinking about her as I watch every sunset and the moon as it grows. May her deep love for you sustain you as you navigate her loss. 💔
