It is with extremely heavy hearts that we inform you that our father and your friend, Tony Nuttall, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 76 years. Tony is preceded in death by his parents Lynn Griffith Nuttall and Carma Lambson Nuttall as well as his wife, Lynne Nuttall. He is survived by their two sons and their wives: John and Stephanie Nuttall of Baker City, Oregon and Richard Nuttall and Ann Daniels of Sandy, Utah. He is also survived by his grandchildren – Jayden Nuttall, Finn Nuttall, Laz Grimshaw, and Caleb Nuttall.
Tony was born in Provo, Utah, on January 8, 1948, to Lynn and Carma Nuttall. He was the eldest of nine children. Growing up, he loved model trains and using his creative skills to make all kinds of crafts, including building dollhouses, drip-and-drape projects and woodworking. In his early twenties, Tony and his friend were lost while driving in New Jersey. This is when Tony met Lynne, the beautiful woman who would one day become his wife. After talking for a while, they both realized that they had a strong connection and exchanged their names and phone numbers. Years later, Lynne was transferred by her employer in New York to Utah. When she knew her destination would be Salt Lake City, she contacted Tony, who was living in Provo, and asked him to help her with the move. They reconnected, and on May 1, 1970, they were married. Almost exactly a year later they were blessed with their first son, John, and seven years later they welcomed another son, Richard, into their family.
Tony’s career path over the years included truck driving and working for Safeway and Reams. The majority of his working years were spent working for Smith’s Food and Drug Company as an assistant manager in the non-foods division. While John was attending Christ Lutheran School, Tony and his family met the Bereshnyi family. Tony and Jean Bereshnyi, Chris Bereshnyi and Natalie Bereshnyi-Dance became more than just friends with the Nuttall family; they all became like family.
Tony loved spending time with all of his family and working with his hobbies. Some of his favorite things to do were listening to music, building dollhouses and Lego sets, enjoying a good meal and taking bus trips to Wendover with Lynne.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah, 84092, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM with a graveside service to follow. 10:00 AM viewing.
With love and gratitude,
John and Richard Nuttall
