Fred Herbert Schroader

1937 ~ 2018

Fred Herbert Schroader, 80, passed away peacefully in his home on March 26, 2018. He was born May 16, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah the fourth of five children born to Herbert F. and Ruth E. Schroader. Fred graduated from East High School and attended the University of Utah from 1955-1959. Fred met his beautiful wife, Elnor Lynn Allen while she was attending BYU. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple and had ten children together.

He was a lifelong member of the LDS church having served as High Councilor, High Priest Group Leader, Ward Executive Secretary, Ward Clerk, Stake Seventies President and Young Men's President. He and his wife filled a full-time proselyting mission in Cincinnati, Ohio and Eastern Kentucky. Shortly after returning from their mission they served as employment counselors for eighteen months at the church employment services in Centerville. They also served as Church Service Missionaries at the Tabernacle and Conference Center. He owned and operated his own insurance agency for many years in Layton. He was named Agent of the Year by his peers in the Utah Professional Insurance Agents Association in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Lynn of 61 years; children Judy (Greg) Kiefer, John, Sandi (Dave) Herrin, Bill (Bonnie), Mike, Paul (Ann Marie), Russ (Keiko), Robert (Angie), Jake (Dani); daughter-in-law Leslie Murray; brother Jack; as well as 39 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Richard; grandson Ben; sister LaRae; and brothers Ron and Gary.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Kaysville Tabernacle (198 W. Center Street) 11:00 am with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30 ‚ 10:30 am. A viewing will also be held Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 6:00 ‚ 8:00 pm at the Havenwood LDS Ward 615 N. Flint Street, Kaysville, Utah.
