We lost our precious Father, Grandfather and Friend, Tracy Patrick Mason, who passed away on January 16, 2024, at 3:35pm. He was 80 years old.
Tracy was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming on June 23, 1943, to Lester and Viola Mason. He was the youngest of three boys, one was a barely older twin. He moved to Utah at the age of 9 and lived here until he graduated from Weber State University. He then moved to California and there is where he met the love of his life, Carolyn. She was the “Cutest waitress he had ever seen!” They were married on April 06, 1974. He then gained two sweet daughters. Tracy and Carolyn had two sons, Lester the oldest in December 1975 and Patrick the youngest in August of 1977. Tracy moved his family back here to Utah in 1994 to his childhood home in Sugarhouse where he stayed until the end, like he wanted.
Tracy had a very successful career in Tire sales and over his long 50+ years, he ran many different automotive stores. He finally retired at the age of 80 in 2023 from Utah Valley Tire.
He loved his motorcycles, especially his Harley Davidson’s. He also really enjoyed digging into his family history, helping others with theirs, fishing, hunting, camping, shooting with guns and compound bows, working on cars, BBQing, books, but mainly hanging out in the front yard with his family.
He joined the LDS Church on October 12, 2014, and he had an enormous amount of faith, which helped him throughout his life and the death of his beloved Carolyn in 2017. He faithfully served in his callings, including his work with family history which brought him a lot of love and peace.
The family would love to thank Inspiration Hospice and the wonderful nurses Mirial and Jolene for the amazing care and attention that Tracy has received over the past months. He couldn’t have been better cared for by the nurses he had. They are true angels.
Tracy is survived by three children, 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. His daughter Ruthanna Martin and her husband Greg. His son Lester Mason, his wife Lonni and their 7 children Nathan, Kira, Thomas, Abigail, Alison, Jackson and Connor. His son Patrick Mason, his wife Stephanie and their 5 children Christian, Sierra, Cole, Kelcee and Alexandra and one great grandchild Raiden.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Mason, both his parents Lester and Viola Mason and both his brothers Jim and Thomas Mason.
As per Tracy’s wishes, he has been cremated. His services will be held at his ward’s Chapel at 1870 East Parleys Canyon Blvd. on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The services will start at 11:00am with a visitation at 10:00am for family and friends where after his family will take him home to be placed by his beloved wife’s side.
