James Richard Cole

1926 ~ 2015

Passed away on June 25, 2015 at the age of 88. He was born on December 5, 1926 to Edgar Richard Cole and Elizabeth Crump in Spanish Fork, UT.

Jim served in the Navy during WWII on the PC583 in the South Pacific. After the war he came home to take care of his family and worked for 37 years at Kennecott. He was a member of the American Legion post 132. In 1950 he married the love of his life Darlene Colvin, later solemnized in 1987 in the Jordan River Utah Temple, and together they raised 4 children. He was a co-founder and coached baseball at the Kearns American Little League.

Jim is survived by his wife Darlene Cole, children; Vicky Osness (Donald), Robert Cole (Ava), Jerry Cole (Jolene), and Nancy Rice (Orval), brothers, Gary Cole (Doris) and Reed Cole (Roxann), 15 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Preceded in death by sisters, Edna Coe and Beth Ledingham, brothers, Robert Cole and Rulon Cole, and granddaughter Nicia Osness LaPiane.

Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. A visitation will be prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
