Shigeko Yagi Mizuno

1927 ~ 2018

Shigeko Yagi Mizuno, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully as she slept at home, January 21, 2018. She was the fifth of seven children, bornNovember 18, 1927, to Jugoro and Fusa Yagi, in Riverside, Utah. Shigeko grew up working hard on the family farm, driving trucks in the fields, andcooking midday meals for everyone. She graduated from Bear River High Schooland continued her education at LDS Business College. Shigekospent her working career with the State of Utah in Personnel Management. On April 27, 1952, she married her lifelong love BillMizuno. They spent nearly 66 years together enjoying many adventures that included travel, golf, and family. Her greatest joy was herfamily. She was the first to welcome everyone to their home for anyfamily gathering. She cherished her grandchildren and considered them to be her own. She was instrumental in their success.

She is survived by her husband, Bill; daughter, Lorraine (Richard) Shew; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Heidi) and Stephanie; greatgranddaughter, Aria; sister, Helen Yagi; brother-in-law, Buster Mayeda; sisters-in-law, Raeko (Milton) Yagi, and Selma (Junior) Yagi. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rose Mayeda and Amy Yagi; and brothers, Shigenori, Milton, and Junior. Thank you to the many health care providers who assisted in her care these past few months.

Private funeral services were heldJanuary 27, 2018,and presided over by Rev. Jerry Hirano of the Salt Lake Buddhist Temple.
