George Shuput

1933 ~ 2015

George Shuput, 83, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend died peacefully ‚ but unexpectedly, in his sleep on July 30, 2015 after a long illness. George was born in Salt Lake City, the youngest son in a family of 12, to Steven (Sava) and Bessie (Boya) Shuput on April 4, 1933. George attended West and South High Schools and was active in sports before enlisting in the Air Force in 1951. During the Korean War he was stationed outside of London, England where he met and fell in love with Dinah Cooper. After he was sent home and honorably discharged in 1955 he sent for Dinah and the two were married in Salt Lake City in 1956. They had two daughters, Gayle and Lisa and were married for 17 years, but remained very close until his death.

George loved all sports and enjoyed playing tennis, handball, racquetball, softball, basketball and golf ‚ But his true passion was for the game of pool at which he excelled. For more than 25 years George was known around town as an unbeatable pool player, a man of his word and a true gentleman.

George was a car salesman before becoming a stock broker, working for several local firms; the longest at Olsen Payne and Co.

In 2007, George married his longtime girlfriend, Dorothy (Dottie) Morrison, who preceded him in death by four weeks. He was a devoted and loving husband who cared for his wife throughout her illness with Alzheimer 's disease.

Always a kind and gentle man, who lived his life by the \"Golden Rule\" - George will be remembered for his honesty and integrity. He leaves behind his daughter, Gayle Terry, grandchildren, Dana and Alissa Terry, great-grandchildren, Lisa Roberts and Amelia Kanda, brother Pete Shuput (June), brother-in-law Emanuel \"Mike\" Kladis (Ruby), ex-wife and dear friend, Dinah Chaney and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by both parents, 10 brothers and sisters, his daughter Lisa, and his wife Dorothy.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 8th, 2015 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 E. 500 S. SLC at 1 PM preceded by a viewing from 11:00 ‚ 12:30 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, SLC. For condolences, please visit www.larkincares.com.
