Joan M Bluth

1928 ~ 2016

Joan Bluth left us on May 26, 2016 to embrace her loving husband, her precious son and her parents for a long awaited reunion. She was born in Delta, Utah on August 12, 1928 to Thomas Vincent Maloney and Celestia Marcusen. She lived there until she was 12 when the family moved to Provo. Her father was determined that all of his children attend college; hence he opened a pharmacy in Provo ensuring his children an education. Joan graduated from Provo High and then on to BYU. There she earned her Bachelor's Degree and met the love of her life, Dewey C. Bluth. Together they embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. They were married August 25, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Business took them to Idaho Falls, but employment brought them back to Salt Lake for Dewey's financial business.

As money became tight for lending, Dewey spoke to the banking commissioner and was told about a small community at the south end of the valley where they should start a bank. Immediately Dewey and Joan sought out investors, raised money and established Draper Bank and Trust. Joan worked alongside Dewey as his teller for the first few years. As Draper Bank grew, Dewey became President and Joan stepped back to be his greatest supporter. When Dewey decided to run for Sandy Mayor, Joan was right beside him as his biggest champion. It is true, behind every successful man is a good woman and Joan was Dewey's. Joan however always maintained her most favorite job as wife and mother.

Although her love and laughter will be missed by many, there is a great celebration welcoming her back to her heavenly home. Joan leaves behind her beautiful daughter Rebecca Morse, grandchildren Angie Hasenohrl, George (Bully) Hasenohrl, Katrina Bluth-Trujillo, Viansa Bluth-Christensen, Korban Bluth and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Dewey, son Vincent, parents and two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
