Steven Hubert Christensen

1942 ~ 2016

Our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, Steven Hubert Christensen passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on Wednesday October 5 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Ogden, Utah on October 16, 1942 and grew up in Nyssa, Oregon. Steve was son of David Hubert Christensen and Sarah Leone Compton. He served a full time mission in Scotland as a young man for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He graduated from Brigham University in 1968. On July 3, 1969 he married Christie Allphin in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Arizona where he worked for Salt River Project and later moved to Colorado Springs. Steve was employed under Colorado Springs Utilities for most of his career as the Superintendent of Operations in Colorado.

Steve was an active passionate servant of the Lord. He served as a Bishop, and a counselor to several mission presidents in Colorado. He was later called to serve a mission with his wife in Georgia. Throughout his life he held many callings but his favorite was as a father and grandpa.

Steve was a passionate fisherman. Fish trembled at the sound of his voice. He loved to follow BYU sports. He enjoyed escaping to Mt. Elbert, CO with his family. He was a very hard worker, and passed these values on to his children.

He is survived by his wife Christie Allphin of 47 years, children: Shanna (Nathan) Gardiner, Evan (Somer Bastian), Renae (Eric) Marks, David (Dixie Dewsnup), Steven (Jocelyn Hatch), Nickell (Brian) Jones, Gary Dean (Emmalee Sparrow), and 27 grandchildren.
