Carol Madsen Messel

1949 ~ 2014

Carol Madsen Messel, 64, died at her home in South Jordan, Utah on November 12, 2014 of complications related to early onset Alzheimer's.

Carol was born in Washington D.C. on December 19, 1949 to Ted Eugene and Lenore Cox Madsen. She graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, California in 1968 and Brigham Young University in 1972. She was an honor student at both institutions.

She married Greg Messel in the Oakland LDS Temple on June 13, 1970. Carol was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including a temple worker at the Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington temples and she was a Relief Society President five times.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Carol is survived by her husband Greg Messel; two sons, Scott (Rachel) Messel of St. George, Utah; Brent (Emily) Messel of South Jordan, Utah; her daughter, Erin (Shayne) Mecham, of Lone Tree, Colorado; 11 grandchildren; her sister, Norma Jean (Craig) Robins of Hurricane, Utah; and her brother, Ken (Damaris) Madsen of Bailey, Colorado.

Funeral services will be heldSaturday, November 22, 2014at the Founders Park 6th Ward LDS Chapel, 11685 S. Kestrel Rise Road, South Jordan, Utah at11 a.m.Friends may call from9-10:45 a.m.at the church prior to the services. Interment will be in the family plot in the Fairview City Cemetery in Fairview, Utah.
