Lila Jean Hendriksen

1930 ~ 2019

Lila Jean Sorensen Hendriksen, of Grantsville Utah, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2019, with her family by her side.

She was born on October 23, 1930 to Mary Frances Booth and Wendell Nels Sorensen in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Martin Peter Hendriksen for time and all eternity on October 26, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Lila was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served willingly and joyfully in many capacities, including in Primary, Relief Society and as a kind and caring friend to all. She will long be remembered as an amazing cook who was frequently asked to share her talents at Relief Society luncheons, ward dinners, girl's camp and other church and community events. She loved to read and inspired thousands of children to do the same through her work as an amazing story teller and Librarian at Longview Elementary in Murray, Utah for over 30 years. Later in life, Lila worked along-side her husband doing genealogy work for her own family and others. Above all, Lila chose to be happy regardless of life's challenges. She was always kind and loving to all who were fortunate to know her.

In her final years, her greatest wish was to be reunited with her beloved Martin. That wish has finally come true. She will be deeply missed.

Lila is survived by her seven children: Margie Holm (John, deceased), Wendy Millet, Laurie Hackett (Dean), Guy Hendriksen (Ruth), Becky Hart (Pete, deceased), Roger Hendriksen (Michelle) and Shelly Shackelford (Chris, deceased) as well as her 29 grandchildren and 54 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 ‚ 11:00 am with Funeral Services at 11:00 am on Monday November 11th, 2019 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, Utah 84092. Interment to follow at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
