Joyce Love Jenson

1929 ~ 2018

Joyce Love Jenson returned to her Heavenly Father on January 31, 2018. She was born September 30, 1929 to Joseph Leonard and Hazel Sperry Love. Joyce grew up in the Yalecrest Ward in Salt Lake City. She made many lifelong friends from that area. She graduated from East High School and the University of Utah. She started dating Spencer Fielding Jenson shortly after World War II. They wrote each other every week while Spence served his mission in Sweden. When he returned from his mission, the two love birds were married on August 21, 1950.

Joyce taught home economics at South High School before her first son was born. While actively raising six sons, she participated in many LDS church callings including Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society. Joyce enjoyed being a Visiting Teacher and taking single sisters to the temple. She loved her home and the people in Parley\s 6th Ward, where she lived for 62 years. Joyce served side by side with Spence fulfilling three full time missions. They served in Göteberg, Sweden where Spence was the Mission President, in Washington DC as Visitors Center Directors, and in Stockholm, Sweden where Joyce served alongside Spence who was the Temple President. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and faithfully served others.

Together Joyce and Spence traveled many places around the world, but perhaps her favorite place was Bear Lake. She created many opportunities to spend time there with the family she loved, especially during summers and weekends. Joyce had a close relationship with her mother, Hazel Love, whom she considered to be one of her best friends.

Joyce is survived by her sons Richard (Diane), Robert (Teri), Ronald (Pam), Reed (Barbara), Russell (Jan), Randall (Heidi), 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Spence, her brothers Jay and Richard and a great-granddaughter, Addie.
