Steven Robert Leithead

1955 ~ 2015

Steven Robert Leithead passed away at his home in Jeremy Ranch, Summit County, Utah, on November 14, 2015. He was born on June 1, 1955, in Greybull, Montana, the son of Robert Darwin Leithead and Mary-Alice Riddle. Steven was raised in West Yellowstone, Montana, where he became an avid and enthusiastic snowmobiler. In 1975, he met his future wife, Heidi, while both were living and working in West Yellowstone. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1978 and are the parents of a beautiful daughter, Lindsay Paige.

Steven was a kind and gentle man who found joy in his life despite a long and arduous battle with multiple sclerosis. He inspired those around him, both family and friends, to face life's challenges with dignity and an enduring sense of humor. We will miss him.

Steven was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania mission from 1976-1978. He cherished his relationship with his Heavenly Father and had a deep and abiding faith in the Gospel and the Plan of Salvation.

Steven is survived by his wife, Heidi E. C. Leithead; daughter and son-in-law Lindsay and Jimmy Murray; mother Mary-Alice Leithead; mother-in-law Elaine K. Cammack; sister Cynthia (Tim) McDonnell; brothers Donnie (Rachel) Leithead and Troy Leithead; and many extended family members, including Uncle Jim and Aunt Louise and Uncle Earl and Aunt Sandy. Preceded in death by his father, Robert Leithead, and his father-in-law, DelMar Cammack.

With gratitude for years of loving service, the family wishes to thank all of the wonderful health care professionals who have cared for Steven, particularly Dr. John Foley and Dr. Patrice Hirning. Our special thanks to Brittaney, his CNA for several years, and to Audrey, the remarkable nurse who has cared for Steven without interruption since 1995.
