Lynn Gerwien Dayton

1943 ~ 2017

Lynn Gerwien Dayton, age 74, passed away December 25, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born August 26, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Keaton Bliss Dayton and Grace Johanna Gerwien. He married Signe Elizabeth Oviatt in Elko, Nevada and was sealed in 1967 in the Salt Lake Temple (later divorced).

Lynn graduated from Granite High School. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Alaskan-Canadian Mission. He served as a Family History Consultant. Lynn worked and retired from Kennecott Copper as a Millwright. He was a hard worker and provided a great living for his family. He was also a member of the Army Reserve. Lynn loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with his family. He spent many summer vacations in Canada with family. He loved camping, RVing, boating and fishing especially at Flaming Gorge. His hobbies included meteorology and finance. Lynn loved playing games especially the last few months playing Bingo with friends. He loved watching the Jazz play. One of his greatest attributes was his sense of humor.

Lynn is survived by daughter Lynette (Neil Roberts); daughter Julie (Greg Black); son Shane (Jennifer Weeks); 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way; former wife Signe Knudsen; sisters Barbara Moore, Phoenix, AZ and Sharon Sharpton, Salt Lake City, UT and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Sadie Dayton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South. Friends may call Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to services at the mortuary. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, Utah.
