Sharon Dawn Coffin Sleight

1933 ~ 2017

Sharon Dawn Coffin Sleight, age 83, left us suddenly in an automobile accident on June 23, 2017. She was born December 11, 1933 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Parley Carl and Katherine Eliza Christensen Coffin, and raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a tomboy as a young girl which made life in St. Anthony fun. She enjoyed playing outdoors and swimming in the Snake River. She was in grade school when her family moved to Salt Lake City. She attended public schools in the downtown area and graduated from West High in 1951. She had fond memories of life in the city during the late forties and fifties.

After high school, Sharon enjoyed skiing and taking road trips with girlfriends. She went to work for Mountain Bell, (now Century Link), in her early twenties as a telephone operator, and held various positions throughout her career until retirement. She married Clyde T. Sleight, later divorced. She was a dedicated mom to her three daughters. In her retirement, she enjoyed needlepoint and bowling. In her later years, she loved connecting with former coworkers over lunch.

Sharon was uncommonly independent for a woman of her generation; fun to be with, and had a great sense of humor. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by three daughters; Kristy, Robyn (Scott) Johnson and Corie. Brother Steve Coffin.

Friends and family may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, on Friday, June 30 at 12:00 Noon. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m.
