Earl Rudolph Nowotny

1924 ~ 2018

Earl Rudolph Nowotny, age 94, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family in Payson, UT on April 9,2018. He was born Jan. 19, 1924 in Salt Lake City, UT to Myrtle Mecham and Rudolph William Nowotny. He was married in the Salt Lake Temple to Beverly Joy Carter on June 10, 1947.

Earl loved hunting, fishing, camping and spending time in the mountains. He raisedpigeons, horses, cows, pigs, chickens and ducks. He loved to garden. Farm life was his passion.

He and Beverly raised 8 children; 5 boys and 3 girls and fostered an Indian child.

Earl loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and patterned his own life after that of the Savior\s. Earl loved his children most of all and spent his life teaching each ofthem the importance of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Importance of storing your treasures in Heaven.

He loved to watch the Jazz basketball games, and BYU football. He loved to play chess with whoever would take the challenge.

If you needed his help with anything, he was there. He held many church positions. He was in the Bishopric, served as Ward Missionary, taught Temple Prep, and took every opportunity to talk about the gospel. He was a great example to all who knew him.

He loved boating on the green river and the Colorado river and whatever lake he could boat on.

Earl is survived by his wife, Beverly Joy, son, David , Son-in-law Chuck (Marilu), daughter Teresa (Jim), son Craig (Teresa), daughter Pam, son Lynn (Karen) and son Neil (Audrey). He is also survived his sister Sandra Copling Lacey, 47 Grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: daughter Cindy, son Gary and his 3 sisters, Bobbi, Helen and Marian.

Dad, we love you, and you will be missed by your family, friends and all those lives you touched.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Kearns 16th Ward, 4715 S. 4300 W. in Kearns beginning at 11AM. A viewing will take place Friday April 13, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy, as well as one hour prior to services beginning at 10AM.
