Patricia Ann Jackson

1939 ~ 2014

Patricia Ann Jackson passed away June 17th at IMC Hospital after several years of illnesses that culminated in a stroke. Patricia was born May 11, 1939 in Richfield, Utah to Gail Wendell Poulson and Ann Arlene Winget Poulson. They moved to Salt Lake City when she was a small child where she grew up in the lower avenues and University of Utah areas. She attended school at Lowell Elementary, Stewart School on the U of U campus, East High School, and BYU. She met her lifetime sweet-heart , Stephen L. Jackson, when she was a senior in high school and after waiting for him while he served an LDS mission they were married on May 27, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. Six children came as a result of this union; David L. Jackson (Julie), Jennifer Walker (Mitch), Scott S. Jackson (Aminta), Catherine Jarman (Douglas), Kimberly Melville (Isaac) and Jason Jackson. She had sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren who were the delight of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stephen G. Poulson, son-in-law Mitchell Walker and great granddaughter Nevaeh.

Patricia worked as a secretary for several years and after her children were raised she was a Teacher's Aide. For many years she taught and assisted Special Needs students whom she came to love and care deeply for. She was actively involved with the Festival of Trees and made many lifetime friends there. Patricia was an active member of the LDS Church all her life and served in many capacities, including Young Women President, Relief Society President and teacher in many age group classes. Her kind, gentle and loving nature was a great example to her students, many of whom have expressed their gratitude for her guidance and friendship. She served faithfully in the Draper Temple baptistery and loved the workers and patrons there.

Funeral services will be held Monday June 23, at the Union 4th Ward Chapel, 1834 E. Creek Rd. (7830 So.). Viewing will be Sunday evening June 22, at the Larkin Sunset Gardens mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 South, from 6 to 8 PM and Monday from 10:30 to 11:45 AM at the 4th Ward Chapel.
