Marie Nellie Bos VanWensveen

1928 ~ 2015

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend Marie Van Wensveen passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on August 25, 1928 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Anko Bos and Gertrude DeVisser. She was married to the love of her life, Cornelis (Carl) Van Wensveen on July 28, 1956 in Twin Falls. They celebrated 52 years of life together. Marie loved to spend time with her family, her grandchildren being the light of her life. She also enjoyed spending time camping, traveling, reading, spending time with friends, and playing SkipBo at the retirement center.

She went to high school in Twin Falls, Idaho and then moved to Salt Lake City to attend Henager Business College. She chose to be a legal secretary and began her career at Dugway Proving Grounds working for the Judge Advocate General. Later she worked for her friend, Merlin Lybbert at Snow, Christen and Martineau law office for many years until she retired. After retiring in 1994 she enjoyed traveling with Carl in her motorhome seeing the country with traveling groups. She was baptized and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for many years.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Carla, her son-in-law Leonard, and four grandchildren, Skip, Austin, Marko and Jasmine. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Marko Carl, daughter Janet Merkley, and sisters Janette and Alice. She was our sweet, loving peacemaker, and friend.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South Wednesday, September 23, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church at 2375 East 3300 South, SLC, Utah.

Graveside services will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, ID Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. preceded by a viewing at White Mortuary, from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
