David John Wilde

1939 ~ 2017

David John Wilde was born in Salt Lake City Utah on March 24th, 1939 to parents Eldred Joseph and Marilyn Pocock Wilde. He died on February 4th, 2017 from a sudden illness at the age of 77. David attended East High School and joined the U.S. Navy after graduation where he served on the USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier. He loved being on the water and serving his fellow men and his country. Then he met Mary Wells and wanted to travel the world with her, but she changed his mind and instead she became his world. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple August 2nd, 1963. He attended the University of Utah and BYU, but found full time work at Hercules and retired after 45 years. His first love was his wife and family. He enjoyed spending his time working at the Salt Lake Temple and going on daily walks with his dog Maddie. Throughout his life David was an exemplary member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings. Of those who had the privilege to know him, there was not a man, woman, child or dog that was not acquainted with his kind, gentle ways.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Mary Elaine Wells Wilde of Salt Lake City, UT, children; Lori Ann Wilde Snell (Jeffrey) of Hermiston, OR, Michael David Wilde (DeNise) of Santa Clara, UT, Kristine Wilde Uno (Mark) of Draper, UT, Allison Wilde Bell (Dan) of Layton, UT, Kenneth Eldred Wilde (Sheree) of Layton, UT, Sara "Peaches" Lynn Wilde Wallace (Matthew) of Pittsburg, TX, 24 grandchildren, one great grandchild on the way and his sister; Kathleen Wilde Wirthlin and her husband Joseph B. Wirthlin Jr.

David was preceded in death by his parents Eldred Joseph and Marilyn Pocock Wilde.

A funeral will be held on Wednesday February 8, 2017 at the Bonneville Stake Center 1535 E. Bonneview Dr. (1080 S.) in Salt Lake City at12:00 noon. A viewing will be heldTuesday February 7, 2017at Larkin Sunset Lawn 2350 E. 1300 S, Salt Lake City, Utah from6:00 to 8:00pmandon Wednesday from10:30 am to 11:30 amat the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Lawn.
