Eugene Slater Ferguson passed away on June 7, 2020. He was born January 30, 1924, in the coal mining town of Superior, Wyoming to Armitta May and William Jackson Ferguson. When the mines closed, the family moved to a small farm in Utah in the spring of 1932, where he grew up and eventually raised his family.
In January 1943, Eugene joined the United States Marine Corps and was trained at Texas A&M as a Communications Specialist. Eugene was always very proud of his military service.
After the war, Eugene met and married his sweetheart, Peggy Gillespie on September 6, 1947. They were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary before she proceeded him in death on September 17, 2007.
Eugene worked as a machinist at Chicago Bridge and Iron Company and was active in the union leadership serving as secretary during a difficult labor dispute. For many years, Eugene also ran his own ornamental iron company, and in the little spare time he had, he loved to camp, hunt and fish. After retiring, he and Peggy enjoyed traveling with friends.
Eugene is survived by his sister, Marilyn Judson; sons, Jeffrey L. Ferguson (Elaine) and Scott E. Ferguson (Leslie); daughters, Christine Bird and Janet Cope (David); 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter.

The Dedication of the Grave will take place on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
