Flora Elaine Freeman

1928 ~ 2013

Flora Elaine Freeman passed away peacefully in her Salt Lake City home on October 7, 2013.

Elaine was born 26 October 1928 in Brigham City, Utah. She was the eighth child of Esther Peterson Bott and Wilford Freeman.

After her graduation from Box Elder High, she graduated from Weber Junior College in Ogden in 1948, graduated from USU in Logan in 1951. She worked a short time at Hill Air Force Base, then as a Deputy City Recorder in Brigham City and then in the Church Purchasing Department and the LDS business college in the evenings from 1951-52 before serving a mission for the LDS Church in Hawaii from 1952-1954. After her mission she again worked at the LDS business college in the evenings from 1954-56 and in the LDS Church Offices for 36 years from 1954 - 1990, when she retired. She worked for Gordon Burt Affleck, Lynn Sorenson, Robert E. Wells, William Bradford, and Jacob de Jager.

She served in a variety of church callings, including Teacher in YWMIA, Sunday School Chorister, Ward YWMIA President; YWMIA Stake Board, Choir Director, and Ward Music Chairman. She cared for her aging parents for many years before their deaths and has worked diligently to organize and preserve Family History records. She has made a great contribution to our family. We will miss her.

She is survived by her sister Irene Freeman Wall (and Ray) of Bountiful and sister-in-law Mary Freeman of Bountiful; and was preceded in death by her brothers, Lee (Lucy); Frank (Wilhelmina); Earl (Gertrude); Glen (Leola); Dwight; and sister Wanda Freeman Whatcott (Cyril); and 42 nieces and nephews (with 2 others deceased).

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 12:00 noon, at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, with a viewing from 10:30 a.m. ‚ 11:45 am.

Interment, Brigham City Cemetery, 300 E. 300 So., Brigham City.
