Carol Haynie Tate

1924 ~ 2018

Carol Haynie Tate, 93, passed away peacefully April 15, 2018, of causes incident to age. Thanks to the staff at Sunrise and Inspiration for their loving care.

Carol was born December 27, 1924 in Manassa, Colorado, to Harran H. and Mary Manning Haynie. Graduated from East High School and attended the L.D.S. Business School. She married Howard Tate January 27, 1945 in Denver, Colorado. Sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, October 1946. Carol worked part-time selling LeVoys clothing while raising her children. She was a member of the Allegro Chorus and was known for giving inspirational readings in choir programs. She later worked at KUED for 25 years preparing the program guides and finally retired at age 83. She was a lifelong chorister for Sunday School or Sacrament Meetings. She loved to travel and was a part of many social groups of friends.

She is survived by children, Lee (Nancy), Sherie Murphy (Michael), Kelly (Janet), Lyn Bankhead (Michael), Jeanie Sharp (David); 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; brothers Louis and Jerry and sisters Marie Haynie and Adele Gilchrist. Also survived by Louise Tate, wife of son Tim. Preceded in death by parents, husband, brothers Richard and Jon, son Tim, daughter-in-law Cathy and grandsons Paul Tate and Colby Sharp.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 21 at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S. Family and friends may call at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S. from 9:30 am to 10:30 am prior to services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
