This is the story of Loy Ann Smith. She started her journey on this earth August 26th, 1945 in Murray, UT. Born to her parents Clarance Rex and Emma McOmie Andrus. She was the 3rd of 6 children and the oldest female in her family. She married the love of her life, Keith Lyle Smith (Draper, Utah) on January 30th, 1965, in Holladay, Utah.
Loy Ann was very proud of her 53 year career as a professional Cosmetologist and often raved about the love an affinity she held in her heart for all of her clients. Many of them have been with her from her early, beauty school days.
She loved to sew, water ski and golf. Her favorite past time was doing "projects". She was a handy-woman/jack of all trades. No project was ever to big or to involved for her. She was a skilled carpenter, painter, framer, drywaller and landscaper. Up to her last breath, she was still barking orders about "honey do" items.
In her younger years she could be found on the water or at the race track. She loved fast cars, running and gunning. As she aged, she found a love for golf. She finally won the Zipper Open golf tournament last year, which was 35 years in the making!
She will forever be known for her loving nature and inviting spirit. All were welcome at her house.
Loy Ann battled stage 4 breast cancer in 1988 and won. She was fighter and had a strong will to live. In early May of this year, her cancer came back in the lungs and was inoperable. She made the courageous decision to forgo the treatments due to the improbable outcome, coupled with the diminished quality of life. On August 05, 2018, surrounded by her family, at home in her bed, she peacefully and without pain, took her final breaths.
She was survived by her Children: Brett Smith, Wendy (Steve) Forbes-Guess, Kammie Gunn, Steven (Betsy) Forbes and Scott Forbes. Also, by her grandchildren: Kenzie Smith, Kahli Smith, Brecken Jones, Corbin Jones, Lorna Gunn, Richie Gunn, Berkly Forbes, West (Virginia) Forbes, Hunter Forbes and Ireland Forbes. Siblings: Raymond (Sharron) Andrus, Terry (Larry) Sidwell, Patricia (Jeff) Purser, Michael Andrus. Sister-in-law Cora (Roger, deceased) Andrus.
Preceded in death by: The Love of her life, Husband, Keith Lyle Smith. Her Parents: Clarance Rex and Emma McOmie Andrus. Older Brother, Roger Lee Andrus.
A reception/visitation will be held, Thursday, August 16th from 6pm to 8pm at Larkin Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy Utah.
A celebration of life will be held, for close friends and family, Sunday, August 19th from 2pm to 6pm, Noahs Event Center, Main Hall, 322 West 11000 South, South Jordan, Utah.
