Listen to Obituary
Venice Evelyn Jacketta Fratto was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born on March 12, 1934 to Rose and Joe Jacketta in Woods Cross, Utah. She passed away December 19, 2025 in Sandy, Utah, surrounded by her loving children. Venice was a woman of remarkable strength and independence, living on her own until the age of 89. She lived a great life to the age of 91 and will be missed by all.
Venice grew up working hard with her siblings on her family farm picking peaches, raspberries, and asparagus, all to sell at their fruit stand. When she was in her teens, she worked at Lagoon Amusement Park making cotton candy and got to enjoy listening to her favorite big band music at the Band Stand. She then attended the University of Utah. Her first big job was working at the Salt Lake Tribune, where she met many friends that became her travel buddies. She loved to travel with family and friends, visiting New York, Oregon, California, Canada, Alaska. Her last big trip was to Italy, which of course, she loved Venice.
In 1959, Venice married the love of her life, her "beautiful blue-eyed Jim" Fratto. They began their family in Draper, Utah, with the birth of their daughter, Deborah. Jim’s career later took them to Price, where they welcomed their son, Randy, and daughter, Julie. Eventually, they returned to their roots in Draper to live on the Fratto family farm.
Venice is reunited with her husband, Jim; her parents, Rose and Joe; her sisters, Ann and Linda; her son-in-law, Mark; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Madden, and Keller.
She is survived and missed by her children: Deborah (Luke), Randy (Elizabeth), and Julie; her grandchildren: Zach (Brit), Ben (Elisabeth), Christina, and puppy Gracie; and her great-grandchildren: Reese and Crew. She also leaves behind her brothers, Roger and Gary, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
We would like to thank the staff at Ashford Memory Care and family that went the extra mile to help Venice over the past few years.
Her services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Larkins Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT. Viewing will be 9:00 – 10:00 AM and graveside at 10:30 AM.
