  • Verlene “Stevey” Christensen passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter on Tuesday,
December 8th, 2020. Stevey was born November 10th, 1931 in Amherst, Texas to Haskell and Arlene Robinson Stephens.

Stevey married Wallace Christensen on July 10th, 1950. They were married for 52 years and lived the majority of those years in Midvale, Utah.

Mom had a long and distinguished career at Litton Industries. She was a champion for women's rights and fought against job discrimination. She was a past president of The Utah Businesswomen’s Association. Mom was active in local politics and campaigned for the candidates she believed were the most qualified.

Stevey enjoyed golfing and played for many years on several different leagues. She also golfed with her children and a good time was had by all! She even learned to ski! Mom also loved traveling with her friends traveling to Morocco, Italy, England, Scotland and Greece.

Mom was very clever and had a wicked sense of humor. She was generous and supportive, and she ensured that we had opportunities for fun. She loved learning new things and took classes in writing, pottery and watercolor.

Stevey is survived by her son, Scott (Jill) Christensen and her daughter Susan (Ben) Martinez as well as 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Stevey was preceded in death by her husband and her son Kelly.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 beginning at Noon at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy, Utah with a viewing 1 hour prior to service. A luncheon will be provided after the internment. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Our appreciation and respect go to Applegate Home Health Care for the amazing support they gave to our Mother and to our family, most notably Oleana and Christine who make the difficult doable.
