Kathryn Burton Everett

1925 ~ 2017

Kathryn Burton Everett was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Carl Cushing Burton and Ella Teresa Christopherson Burton on March 22, 1925. She was sealed to Frank Goddard Everett in the Salt Lake Temple on Tuesday, August 15, 1944. Two days after their wedding, Frank left for the Pacific Theatre to fight during WWII. It would be two years before he would return home.

She graduated from East High School in June of 1942 and attended the University of Utah. Due to the war and with her dear Frank away, she secured a job at Beneficial Life Insurance Company as a personal secretary to the medical director. While there she sang in the Beneficial Life Ladies Chorus. She also modeled for ZCMI and the Gleaners 25th Anniversary in 1947.

During her life, she worked several jobs to help make ends meet but she enjoyed most working for Ivory Company Real Estate as a receptionist and switchboard operator. It was not a job for the faint hearted but she mastered the job with tenacity and professionalism. Throughout her life, family was of utmost importance to her. She loved spending time with family at their cabin, where children and grandchildren were treated to wonderful meals and lots of fun! She will always be remembered as a great cook. She and Frank were Temple workers for over 20 years and treasured their service to God. She also served as a hostess at the Church Office Building for several years. Kathryn was a true friend, showing love, respect, loyalty and concern to all those who knew her.

Mom would say, "as life progresses there are a lot of good experiences and a lot of sad ones. But, isn't that what life is all about?"

She is survived by her four children; Carolyn (Terry) Smith, Jim (Sally), David, and Rebecca (Don) Reese, 20 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sweet husband Frank Goddard Everett; her parents; brother Carl Taylor Burton; and sisters Betty Stohl and Jane Graham; grandson Andrew Kontgis and great granddaughter Morgan Wagner.
