Violet passed away of natural causes on August 1, 2022. Violet was born on January 17, 1925, to Lewis Gowans Bowen and Grace Carter Bowen in Tooele, Utah. She was the youngest of nine children and a twin sister to Barbara.

Violet graduated from West High in Salt Lake City, Utah. Violet married George John Ginos, on March 19, 1943, and they had two boys: Steven John and Terry Bill Ginos. George died of leukemia in March 1954. She married Parnell Bruce Powell on January 25, 1958. Parnell had three sons: Lee, Stephen, and Kevin Cox Powell. Later Parnell and Violet had one more son together, Bruce B. Powell.

Violet retired from ZCMI and later joined Parnell and Bruce owning and operating “Pappy Motorhome” RV Company. Violet was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a special lady, mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always kind and loving to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her children, S. John Powell (Connie), Lee Powell (Sheila), daughter-in-law Karin Powell (Terry), Kevin Powell (Kelley), and Bruce Powell, 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry Powell and Stephen Powell.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah, on August 11th, from 5:00-8:00 pm. Graveside Serves will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, on August 12th at 10:00 am for close friends and loved ones.
