Vivian Irene Weeks returned to the presence of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 30, 2026, while at an assisted living center in West Jordan, Utah. She was 92.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Vivian was a gem to everyone who knew her. Born Sept. 6, 1933, in Hollywood, California, to Bertie and Ella Fowler, she was the first of two children and grew up amongst the glitter of early Hollywood. Over the years she would often regale family and friends about her hometown and the celebrities she had encountered.
Growing up, her family would take summer trips to the small community of Altonah, Utah, where her uncle owned a gas station and store. It was in Altonah, at about age 11, where she met Floyd Weeks, and each year during those summer trips their friendship grew, eventually turning into courtship and then marriage. They tied the knot on Nov. 8, 1952, in Las Vegas. For a time, the newlyweds lived in Altonah but eventually moved to Hollywood to begin their family and later, Simi Valley, California.
It was there where she learned about and was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in the cafeteria of the local high school, sold Avon and was a sales associate at Mervyn’s department store. In 1980 the couple purchased a home in South Jordan, Utah, and she went to work for a time as a baker at area grocery stores until she returned to Mervyn’s fulltime and spent more than 20 years at the Midvale store before her retirement in 2006.
Vivian had many friends throughout her life, including being best friends with the mother of one of her daughters-in-law. Her greatest joy was her family, and she loved being a grandmother. She had a heart of gold, would do anything for her family, and provided countless acts of service to them over the years.
Some things she enjoyed were baking, cake decorating, crocheting, reading, and working on jigsaw puzzles. She often had a puzzle set up in her home and would invite anyone who came for a visit to find a piece to put in the puzzle. She loved nature, including birds, flowers and taking trips to the mountain canyons or other scenic places. She was proud of the fruit trees that grew in her backyard, and one of her favorite places to sit was in the canopy of her favorite flowering tree.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, a daughter (Lois Oldham), and one grandson (Dustin Oldham).
She is survived by her brother, Don Fowler; three children, Craig, Cara Ellison (Rich), and Andrew (Heidi); eight grandchildren, Aaron Jackson (Lori), Alicia Jackson, Keith Fleetwood (Heather), Sunimae Boccadoro, Caleb Weeks, Jake McMonagle, Nick McMonagle, and Brayden Weeks (Ashlyn); and 13 great grandchildren. Often her great grandkids called her “Grandma Great.”
Mom – Gramma, Grams, Grandma Great – we love you, thank you, and miss you! You will forever be in our hearts!

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, beginning with a viewing at 9:30 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 W. 12600 S., Riverton, Utah 84065. Flowers may be sent to the mortuary.
