Vondell Whitlock Slaughter passed away on August 16, 2021, at her home in Murray, UT. She was born on March 16, 1932, in Park City, UT. She was raised in Sandy, UT and graduated from Jordan High School in 1950. Vondell married the light of her life, Dan Ross Slaughter in September 1950. They were married 52 years. Together they had 5 children. Sadly, Dan passed away in November 2002.

She worked as a receptionist at several different locations throughout her career while raising her rambunctious children. Vondell had a goal to visit all 50 states. She loved flowers, needlepoint, and sewing. She truly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She made many quilts, needlepoint pillowcases and tablecloths for all of us. She made many beautiful dresses for her granddaughters which they were delighted to wear.

Mom loved get-togethers with her family. she enjoyed the food but loved visiting and playing with the young children. She was interested in each of us. Christmas brought out something special in Mom. There was always a live Christmas tree. She was meticulous in placing every ornament and adjusting every light to the point that it drove us nuts.

Vondell is survived by her children Rulean (Ken) Gray, Dannie (Dave) King, Blake (Chantelle) Slaughter, and Donell (Martha) Slaughter, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan, son Cory, granddaughter Toni King and her parents Rulon and Idona Whitlock.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held Friday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 am prior to the services. Please share a memory of Vondell with her family at larkincares.com.
